{"id":651,"date":"2025-02-18T18:09:04","date_gmt":"2025-02-18T18:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cdm.lebuinco.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=651"},"modified":"2025-02-18T18:09:05","modified_gmt":"2025-02-18T18:09:05","slug":"daria-in-dc-celebrating-cdms-18-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/cdm.lebuinco.com\/es\/news\/daria-in-dc-celebrating-cdms-18-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"Dar\u00eda in DC; Celebrating CDM\u2019s 18 Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yesterday, following a week of activities,\u00a0<strong>we officially celebrated Labor Day and CDM\u2019s 18th anniversary.<\/strong>\u00a0Today, our vision remains the same as it did when we opened the doors to our first office in Zacatecas back in 2005:\u00a0<strong>a\u00a0world where borders aren\u2019t barriers to justice and the rights of migrant workers are respected and laws and policies reflect their voices and experiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To launch the week of activities,&nbsp;<strong>Daria Hernandez, a leader in our Migrant Defense Committee, and CDM staff joined the U.S. Department of Labor, the Mexican government and other governments for the kick-off of Labor Rights Week.<\/strong>&nbsp;As a keynote speaker, Daria spoke passionately, advocating for the rights of her fellow migrant workers, challenging discrimination and retaliation, and championing better access to healthcare.&nbsp;<strong>She inspired us with her courage, clarity and call to action.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Daria in D.C.\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xVCA9b3wFJM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daria\u2019s journey hasn\u2019t been a solitary one.&nbsp;<strong>She has drawn strength from the collective efforts of the Migrant Defense Committee, made possible by the unwavering support of people like you<\/strong>\u2014migrant worker leaders, our supporters, allies, former staff and volunteers, and donors. You\u2019ve stood by us, believed in our mission, and made a real impact in the lives of migrant workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we celebrate this 18th anniversary, our commitment remains steadfast: We will continue building power with migrant workers, fighting for justice in the courts and advocating for fair labor migration policies.
