Legal Services
Intake and Referral
Through CDM’s extensive outreach and mobile workers’ rights workshops in migrant-sending communities in Mexico and our toll-free hotlines in the U.S. and Mexico, we have helped thousands of U.S. and Mexico-based workers access justice. After a comprehensive intake process, our multilingual legal team evaluates workers’ potential work-related claims under U.S. law, provides legal advice and connects workers with U.S. advocates at partner non-profit organizations, law firms and government enforcement agencies.
Strategic Litigation
CDM engages in strategic litigation in U.S. state and federal courts to advance the workplace and civil rights of migrant workers who are in the United States or have returned to Mexico. Our court victories have established important precedents to protect low-wage workers’ rights.
Litigation Support
Building a case involving clients who cross borders can pose significant challenges. CDM designs customized solutions to overcome them. Since 2005, CDM’s team of U.S.-licensed lawyers, paralegals and outreach workers has helped non-profits, government agencies and law firms to investigate U.S. cases involving clients and witnesses in Mexico. CDM has broad experience with cases ranging from single plaintiff lawsuits to class and collective actions involving hundreds of individuals. We specialize in labor rights cases but can help in a variety of civil matters.
Our litigation support services include: case support, transnational discovery, class and collective action outreach and transnational settlement distribution. To learn more about our services, download our brochure here.
